“But let all who take refuge in You be glad”

Psalm 5:11 (NIV)

As a kid, I played my local golf course hundreds of times. There was a long par 5 hole that takes you far away from the clubhouse. Behind the green sits a little old shelter that was overgrown with vines and weeds. The unkept little shelter use to bother me, but over time became just part of the background.

One summer afternoon a rainstorm hit the golf course hard and fast. I felt helpless till I remembered the shelter. I sprinted to my place of ‘refuge’ during 30 minutes of driving rain. I was safe, I was ‘glad’. I never looked at that dingy little building the same.

Maybe we all need to take ‘refuge’ in the One who can truly shelter us from life’s pressures and attacks. If you do, your affection for God will always grow.

Heavenly Father, shelter, comfort and protect me. I need You in the midst of life’s stresses. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
