Oops, wrong building
“What good will it be for someone if they gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?”
Matthew 16:26 (NIV)
Jesus loved to ask questions to make His disciples think. This question is a classic. He seems to be telling us to check our goals. Make sure our efforts aren’t just for selfish gain. When our lives are over, what did we do to show faith, help others…; eternal stuff.
There’s an old saying that comes back to haunt me (in a good way) every so often. “As you climb the ladder of success, be sure it’s leaning against the right building”.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, I know You promise to reward me eternally if I seek You and help others. Remind me of this as I strive to succeed in every area of my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
