The Rock that Rolled my blues away
“Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock”
Matthew 7:24 (NIV)
‘The rock’ Jesus is talking about is found deep in the ground. He is saying to dig down through the looser terrain and build the house up from there. A foundation that is securely planted in the earth. The next verse (vs 25) talks of a violent storm coming and the house stands firm because of this foundation.
It takes time and effort to dig out this mighty foundation. We need to take the time and effort seeking God, discovering His truths in the Bible and praying to Him. And most importantly, we need to take time and effort putting His words ‘into practice’.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, remind me not to just do the bare minimum to get by spiritually. Help me to be prepared for the storms of life. Be the Rock of my soul and being. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
