But dad, everyone else is doing it
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate that leads to destruction, and many enter through it”

Jesus is continuing to teach His most famous sermon that started in Matthew 5.
Growing up my kids knew that the argument to get permission to do something could not include the phrase, “But dad, all the other kids are allowed to do it”, never got them the outcome they were seeking. They soon realized that dad tried to make decisions based on what is right in the eyes of God, not just what the cultural norm may be (the ‘wide gate’). They didn’t always get what they desired, but still got plenty enough to have an enjoyable and more fulfilling childhood experience than most.
Sometimes God the Father would like to step in and tell us, “I know it seems like everyone else is doing it a certain way (based on movies, TV and just watching others), but consider the ‘narrow gate’ on your decisions and choices you’ll make today. I will fulfill you!”
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, continue to give us Your strength and Your eyes as we make our choices and decisions. Thank you that You long to fulfill us. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
