HE tells a different story
And the Philistine giant, Goliath, cursed David by his gods. “Come here,” Goliath said, “and I’ll give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!” David said to the Philistine giant, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty” 1 Samuel 17:43-45
David was facing a very scary dude. Some say that Goliath was 9 feet tall. David’s inner flesh had to be a little intimidated by this monster’s booming voice, massive frame and violent threats. That inner flesh or inner self-talk can try to persuade us to back down from the challenges of life. To cower away from attempts at doing great things. To make us feel unworthy of accomplishing dreams and passions.
Read the words from one of my favorite Casting Crowns songs entitled Voice of Truth…
But the giant’s calling out my name and he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times I’ve tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again “boy, you’ll never win!
“You’ll never win”
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
And the voice of truth says “Do not be afraid!”
And the voice of truth says “This is for My glory”
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, continually remind me that You are bigger than anything I will ever face. And keep telling me that You and me are a majority, when I need to face my fears. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
