He’s Frantically trying to Free us

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past”

(Isaiah 43:18, NIV)

No matter how much faith we have or how good we are, we will face disappointments. It may be something like a relationship not working out, someone we trusted is talking poorly about us, the job isn’t what we thought it would lead to, our parents driving us crazy…Whatever it may be, the reality is that we’re all going to suffer setbacks and frustrations. If you are like me, I can feel like my emotions are “stuck” in a spider web of frustration and stress! One of the keys to overcoming these disappointments is learning to let go of the past.

If you feel “stuck”, you may want to examine what you’re holding on to. Be willing let go of past disappointments through forgiveness. Who hurt you? Who wronged you? GiveĀ it to God. Then, we can’t forget to forgive ourselves also. We need to accept the forgiveness that He is frantically trying to freely give us. Make the choice today to forgive. Let go of the past so you can overcome disappointments and experience the bright future God has in store for you!

Heavenly Father, search my heart and mind. Show me any area where I may be holding on to the past. Help me to accept Your forgiveness so that I can extend forgiveness to others and move forward in the good plan You have for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
