Verbally stop in your tracks

How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?”  Matthew 7:4 (NIV)

Many times we find comfort in complaining or criticizing others. It easy to do, especially when talking about someone that we feel threatened by, competing with, or someone we just don’t like. The challenge today is to draw closer to God when this feeling or temptation comes to us. At that moment “verbally stop in your tracks” and breathe a quick prayer, asking God to instead point out a flaw in ourselves. This challenge will bolster the personal character of any taker. It will amplify your communication with Him.

The famous Groucho Marx stated, “I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member”. Humorous, yet profound.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, help me to see the ‘planks’ in my life. Thank You that You love me anyway. Give me the strength to do the same for others (love them anyway). In Jesus’ Name. Amen
