Green Bay’s “chase and catch”
“Repent and turn to God so…that times of refreshing may come from the Lord” Acts 3:19 (NIV)
The word “repent” here means to change your mind and purpose. Today’s verse is urging us to turn from living just for ourselves and our own methods of self-gratification. And turn to God and His principles of living. If we do this we initially attain eternity in heaven through faith in Jesus. Then as we continue this focus, we can experience many “times of refreshing from the Lord”.
God does not expect us to be perfect, just to be going in the right direction. The late, great football coaching legend Vince Lombardi is quoted as saying, “perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence”. In the same way, if we chase after a close relationship with God, learn and practice His principles of living, then we will catch God’s Spirit greatly enhancing who we are!
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, thank You that You don’t expect me to be perfect. Help me to refocus when I mess up, so that I can keep going in the Your direction for me. I need those “times of refreshing”. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
