Pass it on

“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others”   2 Timothy 2:2 (NIV)

Paul was writing some advice to his good friend Timothy, urging him to tell others about what he has learned.

It embeds truth in to our heart if we pass on the things we are learning about God. Others get blessed, you get blessed, and He is honored.

Try it next time you hear a good sermon, come across an inspiring bible verse, or read a meaningful devotional. Briefly and humbly tell someone else what you have learned. This could be a family member, co-worker, friend…

(Trust me, true story) There was a guy in high school that was very popular, partier, good looking, star athlete… Years later he gave his life to Christ. He ran across an old high school classmate at a really good church service. She was one of those behind the scenes, quiet, good students that humbly blended into the background of high school memories. The popular guy probably didn’t even know her name. He walked up to her and asked, “were you a real Christian back in high school?” “Yes”, she retorted with a huge smile.” His response dropped her face. He kiddingly, yet honestly wondering, asked, “then why didn’t you tell me about it? I would have loved to have started my relationship with God much sooner. I did some really stupid things that I truly regret”. They hugged and became friends with a common bond.

Sometimes we think we will be bothering people if we bring up God-stuff. I have found the opposite to be true. Bring it up and see what happens.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, give me the courage and the tact to relay what I learn to others. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
