“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus”  Philippians 2:5 (NIV)

The verses that follow this one goes on to explain how Jesus was a very humble servant to others. Then in verse 2:9, it says that because of this humble attitude, God exalted Him to the highest place. His attitude determined His altitude. Choosing to lower Himself gave God the ability to raise Him up.

I am convicted that one of the reasons that Abe Lincoln was such a great leader is because of this humble and serving attitude. On one occasion his friends were speaking harshly about the southern people (the enemy), and he replied: “Don’t criticize them; they are just what we would be under similar circumstances.”

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, teach me to be understanding of others, a helper to others, and a blessing to You. Thank You for many chances to develop Your attitude. Please keep growing me up. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
