Green Bananas
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain” Philippians 1:21 (NIV)
I was in a room with two elderly men talking. Both had that scruffy, slightly slurred voice that seems to develop in the 80’s.
I was taken by how full of life both gentlemen were. I could see the evidence of walking with God for years exzooding through their cheerful countenance.
The one wrinkly faced man poked at the other by saying, “Ol’ Earl here doesn’t buy green bananas anymore”. Both laughed hysterically(bananas take several days to become edible), acknowledging that their days on earth are numbered. This reality just didn’t seem to bother them.
They had the mentality that as a believer in Christ, “they can’t lose, even if they lose”. Hard times come, God uses it as a growing tool. Death comes, they celebrate an amazing existence in paradise.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, thank You that as I walk with You, “I can’t lose, even if I lose”. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
