The master salesman

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us” Ephesians3:20 (NIV)

I once worked in a really large appliance store. I started out selling the low end, small commission stuff. My good friend was a regional manager and shocked me when he told me about the big money he use to make working in that “low end” department.

I told him that there is NO WAY to make that much money selling boom boxes, typewriters and radios. I could not ‘imagine’ how he could pull this off, so I bet him a dinner if he could logically explain how he did it.

He preceded to tell me that he would get to know each customer. After selling them a CB radio or pack of batteries, he would ask about their family and kitchen appliances. Next thing you know, he’s taking people who now felt like he cared, around the store to look at refrigerators, washers and ranges. He was an amazing, personable salesman. People would come back to the store to buy the “high end” stuff from him because the relationship he built.

I lost the bet because my experience was so limited compared to this master salesman. I had no idea that this strategy even existed.

Same with God. We need to realize we don’t have all the answers. There are solutions to problems, answers to prayers, hidden paths to situations working out, a person out there who will marry us, a friend to be made…if we trust the Master.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your vast abilities to make things work to my good, even when it’s outside of what I can ‘imagine’. I will lean on You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
