The search for truth

“Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this” 2 Timothy 2:7 (NIV)

Paul was writing some interesting analogies in the previous verses. Then in vs 7 he gives us a bible study tip.

1) Prayerfully ‘reflect’ or think about what you read. Be a detective, seeking clues and asking questions about the text that may lead to understanding. KEY QUESTION- What do I see?

2) Ask for, wait on, and expect the Lord to give ‘insight’ (maybe right away, maybe in a year from now). Take some “sanctified guesses” as you search for this ‘insight’. Attempt to put it into your own words. KEY QUESTION- What does this really mean?

3) Try to put legs on what you understand the passage to be saying. Fill in the blank as you ponder an application; “for example________”. KEY QUESTION- How does this apply to me?

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, show me how to think about bible passages and give me Your insights to life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
