Can I have seconds?

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied” Matthew 5:6 (NASB)

There’s a difference between trying to read the bible, pray and doing what’s right when we “find the time”, and actually striving to make sure we are doing those things.

I like the description of ‘hungering and thirsting’. It’s the mentality of “I must do this”, instead of merely hoping that I will get the time.

With seeking to do right, confessing wrongs and talking to God, it’s the opposite of physical food hunger. With actual food, when we eat a lot we stop being hungry. We are full. But with things of God, the more we read, pray and do right, we get even hungrier for more. Our appetite increases.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, place in me an unquenchable thirst to pray, study, and do right. Thank You that You promise to ‘satisfy’ me in who I am, what I do and who I know. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
