Divine Surgery

“If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves. But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”  1 John 1:8-9 (NLT)

“Everyone else is doing it”, “what I do is nothing compared to them”, “I admit that I am wrong, but I had no choice”, “I know this is not right, but they pressured me into it”…these are my mind games.

Confessing sins (wrongful actions, thoughts or words) can get really watered down with shifting the blame, convincing ourselves that it’s really not a big deal, or even completely ignoring the wrongdoing.

The thing is, if we don’t “own up” to our sins, we miss the blessing. We miss out on the ‘cleansing’ and freeing that God can do. If we would just ADMIT IT and QUIT IT with no excuses, “divine surgery” can begin to take place on our character, our inner peace and joy.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, I know You understand my weaknesses. Thank You for continually forgiving me when I confess. Change me, do Your “divine surgery” on my insides. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
