The Approach
“Let us approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)
As I ponder this verse, I get this mental picture of a mighty King sitting in the distance on His throne. I have strong feelings of intimidation and indecision, but continue to walk cautiously closer.
When I get near enough, I can see this majestic King notice that I am approaching. The look on His face completely disarms my hesitations and doubt. It’s a look that shows not only a beaming smile of excitement to see little ol’ me, but also that He knows, completely forgives and cares about me.
No matter what I’ve done, thought or said, He always is so glad to have me approach His ‘throne of grace’. The more I approach, the more I look forward to our conversations, confessions, and especially those times when He needs to hold and hung me because I’m hurt, frustrated, helpless, or just feeling like giving up.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, thank You for allowing me to approach You ‘with confidence’. I need the forgiveness, strength and understanding ear that You provide. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
