God-made
“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?” 2 Corinthians 13:5 (NIV)
I will never forget the day that I was sitting in a large group of college students who all grew up in Bible-believing homes and churches. A dynamic speaker used this verse to challenge each of us to ‘examine’ ourselves.
He pointed out three types of “Christians”. First was the “Man-made Christian”. That was the one who decided to believe because that’s what people, parents and friends expected of them.
The second was the “Self-made Christian”. Those are the ones who deep down feel that if they do what’s right that they can earn heaven and a relationship with God based on their own efforts.
But the third, and only true Christian, is the “God-made Christian”. That is the one who realizes that no matter who they are trying to impress, or how many good deeds they do, the only way to God is by handing their lives over to Him and trusting what Jesus did for them as their connecting accomplishment.
Out of the 1500 students in the audience, I was shocked to see hundreds indicated that for the first time they wanted to be a true God-made Christian. (See “Start the Victory” atop victory247.org)
