Turtle on a fence post
“One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty”
Proverbs 11:24 (NIV)
This is upside-down thinking. Common logic says that if you keep giving away, you will run out. But this is God’s challenge to us to see “turtle on the fence post” faith. If you see a turtle on top of a fence post, you must conclude that someone put it there, because it can’t possibly get there on its own.
It’s the same with this bible principle. When we keep giving yet our account grows, it has to be God putting it there. He’s working in our hearts, working through circumstances, and working in our minds.
The next part of the verse rings true as well. Show me a stingy person and I will show you someone who may have things, but is missing the full life.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, make me a giver of things, helpful actions, and uplifting words. Thank You for the abundance that you promise to follow. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
