It’s Time to Thrive

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers”

(3 John 1:2, NKJV)

Many people today are living in “survival mode.” If they can just make it through the day, they’ve accomplished their goal. And, there are times when circumstances can seem overwhelming. But God doesn’t want us to just survive, He wants us to thrive. He wants us to prosper in all things. Prosper doesn’t necessarily mean financially. It could mean victory over a bad habit, victory in relationships, victory with your insides, victory in getting in better shape…

One definition of the word “thrive” means “to realize a goal despite circumstances.” That means you can prosper in all things no matter what is going on around you. You may be planning on just getting by, but God wants you to have victory it many areas of your life. It’s time to walk in His ways. It’s time see your dreams come to pass. It’s time to thrive because God has a plan for you to prosper in every area of your life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father God, thank You for the gift of today. I choose to cast my cares on You knowing that because You care about me, You care for me. Help me to see the good plan You have for me so that I can thrive the way You intended. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FUN

There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves… without self-control… lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God

2 Timothy 3:1-4 (NIV)

Our minds seem to always go to; “what can I do that will be fun and make me feel good”. Believe me, I desire fun, but it’s like chasing my shadow. Let’s say our shadow represents fun and pleasure. Try to catch up to it and the shadow goes away from us. Walk away from it and the shadow pursues us!

In the same way, I have found that when I am constantly seeking pleasure, life isn’t enjoyable or fulfilling. But, when I’m making better efforts to have times of prayer, checking out scripture, and serving others, seem to be the days I’m experiencing more fun and enjoyment.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, remind me to seek times with You and helping others. So that I can trust You for life’s pleasures and enjoyment. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Sudden Breakthroughs

…the Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like the bursting out of great waters…”

(2 Samuel 5:20, AMP)

God wants to give you a breakthrough—a sudden burst of His favor; an explosion of His goodness. He wants to release His power in such a way that it overwhelms you and drives out your enemies!

Maybe you’ve been praying about a relationship for years, and suddenly, things get into place. That’s a breakthrough. Or you were trying to get a certain job. They said there were no openings; but suddenly, they call you back and you get the job. That’s another breakthrough. Perhaps you’ve struggled with an addiction for a long time, but then something happens and it’s not a struggle anymore. Those are all breakthroughs.

No matter what you’ve been facing, no matter how impossible things look, know this: the God of the breakthrough wants to visit your house. Get ready! Look for His favor and goodness. Remember, God rewards the people who seek after Him. So keep expecting, keep believing because the God of the breakthrough is ready to overwhelm you with His goodness today!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, today I am expecting Your goodness. I am looking for Your favor. I’m trusting that You, the God of the breakthrough, are working mightily on my behalf. Help me to live a life pleasing to You as I wait for Your hand to move mightily in my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

RUN

Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

2 Timothy 2:22 (NIV)

‘Flee’ doesn’t mean to just not partake in impure desires, it means to turn the other way and RUN! I heard a saying that rings in my head every time I’m watching a movie that maybe shows too much skin, or I’m hanging around with guys who are being dishonest and unethical. That saying is; “If you don’t want to sin, stay out of sin’s orchard”.

If you are trying to lose weight, don’t hang out at a Dairy Queen. The ‘evil desires of youth’ will destroy our hearts and peace. Instead, pursue God’s stuff and we will develop that inner fulfillment and joy.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, give us the strength to FLEE. Also, to be convinced that sin is never worth it. In Jesus’ Name. Amen

The Position of Power

“Good sense makes a man restrain his anger, and it is his glory to overlook a transgression or an offense”

(Proverbs 19:11, AMP)

Every day, we have opportunities to get upset, be frustrated, or get offended. Maybe you had plans that didn’t work out, or someone was rude to you at the office. Maybe you were doing something that should have taken one hour, and it ended up taking three. Life is full of inconveniences; but even though we can’t always control our circumstances, we can control our reactions to those circumstances. I heard somebody say, “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond.”

We should always go out each day with a positive attitude, full of hope and expecting God’s favor. But at the same time, we should recognize that most days are not going to go exactly as we planned. Remember, we were created to live in peace. Peace is our position of power. If you get stressed because you got off schedule, or got upset because your child wouldn’t eat his breakfast, or frustrated because somebody offended you, what you’re doing is giving away your power. Instead, make the decision to release those offenses and disappointments so you live in peace and move forward in the power and victory the Lord has for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, today I release every care, concern, offense and disappointment to You. I choose to keep the peace that You have given me knowing that with You my best days are ahead! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

His Insight

Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.

2 Timothy 2:7 (NIV)

Paul was writing some interesting analogies in the previous verses. Then in vs 7 he gives us a bible study tip. 1) ‘Reflect’ or think about what you read. 2) Ask for, wait on, and expect the Lord to give insight (maybe right away, maybe in a year from now). Key questions to ask about a passage-what do I see?(key words and phrases), what does this mean?, how does this apply to me?

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, show me how to think about bible passages and give me Your insights to life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen

A Christian is a keyhole through which other folk see God. — Robert E. Gibson

The Report of the Lord

“I have heard a report from the Lord…”

(Jeremiah 49:14, AMP)

TODAY’S WORD

Every day we get “reports” from the news, our experiences, our friends and family, and many other sources. We also get reports from the Word of God, which oftentimes, contradicts what everyone else is saying. That’s when we have a choice to make. Do we believe what we hear in the natural, or do we believe the report of the Lord?

We serve a supernatural God! Just because we don’t see a way doesn’t mean that He doesn’t have a way. God can bring one opportunity across your path that will thrust you to new levels. He has explosive blessings that can blast you out of debt and into a place of abundance. What you’re facing today may be impossible with man, but with God all things are possible. Choose today to believe the report of the Lord. Stand strong no matter what is going on around you knowing that He has a plan to lead you into victory in every area of your life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, I choose to believe Your Word above all else. I know that You are working behind the scenes on my behalf, and You will cause me to triumph. Help me to tune out the negative voices of the world so that I can focus on Your goodness all the days of my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

A Flood of Power

So [Israel] came up to Baal-perazim, and David smote [the Philistines] there. Then David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like the bursting forth of waters. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim [Lord of breaking through]”- 1 Chronicles 14:11, AMP

Notice how David likened God’s power to the bursting forth of waters. In other words, he described it as a flood. He was saying that when the God of the breakthrough shows up and releases His power, it will be like a flood of His goodness, a flood of His favor, a flood of healing, a flood of new opportunity.

Think about how powerful water is. Three or four inches of water can pick up a huge car that weighs thousands of pounds and move it all around. I’ve seen on the news whole houses floating down the river in big floods. Nothing can stop the force of that water! Anything that’s in its way is moved!

Today, you may have difficulties that look extremely large, obstacles that look impassable, dreams that look unobtainable. But know this: when the God of the breakthrough releases a flood of His power, nothing can stop it. You need to get ready not for a trickle, not for a stream, not for a river. Get ready for a flood of God’s favor, a tidal wave of His goodness, a tsunami of His increase! Dare to believe that God is going to overwhelm you with victory in every area of your life today!

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I invite You to overwhelm me with You today. Take over every area of my life; my thoughts, my attitude, my body. Flood me with Your healing, favor, and strength today as I surrender my entire being to You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
