Still want to be a billionaire?

“When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?’ Then the King will say, ‘I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me”

Matthew 25:37-40 (The Message Bible)

Jesus delivers His final parable (Matthew 25:31-46) right before the events leading up to the cross. This illustration of the ‘sheep and the goats’ is some “bottom line”, rubber-meets-the-road type teaching.

Interesting to note that He refers to Himself as ‘the King’. He did this to emphasize the magnitude of helping those who are in a humble and hurting state. If we help them, it’s the same as doing it personally for a ‘King’, Jesus Christ Himself. This is amazing if we really think about it.

Heavenly Father, thank you for the inheritance and blessing (Matt 25:34) You promise me if I act on opportunities to serve those who can’t repay me. Give me the eyes to see others’ needs, as well as, the strength and faith to take the time to help. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
