In spite of me

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us”  Romans 5:8 (NIV)

When we start a relationship with God, it has nothing to do with how “good” or “bad” we are. It has everything to do with who we place our faith in (see “Start the Victory” atop He loved us in spite of our sins.

As we live it out, the same applies. We don’t have to meet a certain criteria to get Him to love and care for us. He has the ability to do that in spite of our shortcomings and screw ups. We can’t earn any more of His love, because we have it all already!

This wrong thinking; “I’ve been really good this week, maybe He’ll answer my prayers today”, or “I better put some time in between that last big sin to start to depend on Him again”.

Heavenly Father, I’m so glad You really care about me in spite of my performance. Help me to truly wrap my mind around this verse. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
